Meet our STAFF


John Gulley - Principal​

John Gulley has been a principal for six years, three years at St. Francis Xavier. He was born in Caribou, Maine and grew up in Naples, Florida. He is a graduate of St. John Neumann Catholic High School in Naples, Fl. He served in the United States Army prior to attending Florida Gulf Coast University. Mr. Gulley received a bachelor’s degree in history from FGCU and a master’s degree in educational administration from the University of Notre Dame. Mr. Gulley has served in Catholic Education for over ten years as a teacher, athletic coach, administrative dean, athletic director and principal.

James Reynolds - Assistant Principal​

Jim Reynolds has been a proud member of the St. Francis Xavier School since 1997. He first served as a middle school math and science teacher, then moved into administration. He coached soccer for many of the years that he has been at St. Francis. He graduated from Penn State University with a degree in Parks and Recreation, Environmental Interpretation, then went on to earn his masters degree in Catholic School Administration. Before his career at St. Francis, he worked at the Calusa Nature Center and Planetarium as a naturalist. When he’s not at school, he enjoys spending time outdoors with his family. He’s especially fond of the beach, the mountains and loves to travel.

Primary (PreK-Grade 2)

JoAnna Morris - VPK​​​/PK4

JoAnna Morris started teaching at St. Francis Xavier in 2018. She holds a master’s degree in education from Florida State University and has over ten years of classroom teaching experience. In her spare time, she and her family enjoy the beach and visiting that loveable mouse in Orlando.


Liz Gerlach - VPK/PK​​4

Liz Gerlach joined the St. Francis Xavier family this year. She is originally from Kansas, but has called Southwest Florida home for more than 20 years. She graduated from Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, GA with a planned major in English and History. When it was time for a career change, she enrolled in education classes at FGCU and has since completed 30+ credit hours in early childhood education. She has taught Pre-k/VPK for almost 10 years. In her spare time she loves reading, spending time with her family, and snow skiing.

Camille Nieves - PK3

Camille Nieves is a Fort Myers native who started her career with St. Francis in 1992 and has maintained dedication to early childhood education for 26 years. She began her career in the after-school program while still attending high school. Her passion for working with children and being a part of the St. Francis family guided her to ultimately become the Director of Sister Elaine Mahoney Early Education Center. Throughout the years she has maintained several accreditations and certifications, including an Early Education Directors Credential attained from Florida Southwestern State College and Department of Children and Families.

Kimberly Ogburn - Kindergarten

Ms. Kimberly Ogburn_19-20

Kim Ogburn is originally from Ft. Myers and a proud alumna of both St. Francis Xavier Catholic School and Bishop Verot High School. She received her bachelor’s degree in special education and Master of Education in Early Childhood Education from University of Florida.  She taught kindergarten in Texas before coming home to Ft. Myers to teach kindergarten at St. Francis.  I love going to the beach, traveling, reading and cheering on the Gators.



Alison Zaenger - Kindergarten

Alison Zaenger is originally from Ohio and is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati and Mount Saint Joseph University. She has a bachelor’s degree in theory-based communication and a master’s degree in early childhood education, as well as an ESOL and reading K-12 endorsement. She began teaching in the Lee County School District in 2004 and joined the Saint Francis Xavier family this year. She has taught kindergarten and first grade.

Christine Macaluso - Grade 1

Mrs. Macaluso has been a member of the St. Francis family for five years. She previously was a first grade assistant and is now a lead first grade teacher.  Originally from Chicago, Ill, she has lived in Southwest Florida for 16 years.  She received her degree from Ball State University in Indiana with an emphasis in sociology and psychology of human development.  She is currently finishing her master’s degree in education.   Mrs. Macaluso enjoys spending time with her family, enjoying the beach and outside activities.

Lisa Daley - Grade 1

Mrs. Daley joined the St. Francis Xavier family this year. She grew up in Chicago.  She received her bachelor’s degree in political science and sociology from Illinois State University and her master’s degree in elementary education from National Louis University.  Shortly after being married, she moved to Estero with her husband.  She taught first grade in the Lee County School District for 16 years. She enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and watching her girls play lacrosse.


Jennifer Kidd - Grade 2

Mrs. Kidd was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri and moved to Fort Myers this summer to become apart of the St. Francis family.  She graduated from Fontbonne University with a B.S. in dietetics then received her M.A. in teaching from Lindenwood University. This is her 8th year of teaching.  Mrs. Kidd enjoys working out, the beach and spending time with friends and family.

Angela Nizza - Grade 2

Ms. Nizza grew up in Fort Myers and is an alumnus of St. Francis Xavier and Bishop Verot High School. Ms. Nizza graduated from the University of Central Florida with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. This is her third year of teaching. She has taught 3rd and 4th grade. In her free time she enjoys singing, spending time outdoors, and traveling.

Intermediate (Grades 3-5)

Debra Hawkins - Grade 3

Mrs. Hawkins has taught third grade for three years at St. Francis. She came to the school from St. Michael Catholic School in Kentucky where she taught preschool, kindergarten, and fifth grade. Prior to that, she taught a fifth and sixth grade special education class in Hamilton, Ohio. She received her bachelor’s degree in education from Bowling Green State University with certificates in elementary education and two special education areas. She received a master’s degree in education from Indiana Wesleyan University.

Lindsay Engel - Grade 3

Mrs. Engel was born in Indiana. She moved at a young age to California, and then returned to Indiana for high school. She decided she needed warmer weather again and moved to Fort Myers to attend FGCU where she earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees. She has taught kindergarten, first, and second grade in the Lee County School District and has joined the Saint Francis Xaviar family this year.

Catherine Gerfin - Grade 4

Ms. Gerfin was born in Mobile, Alabama. She received her bachelor’s degree from Penn State University and her master’s degree in elementary education from University of Phoenix. She is beginning her second year at St. Francis and prior to coming here, she taught 15 years in Virginia, Alabama and Florida where she has taught second, third and fifth grades.

Lory Hendricks - Grade 4

Lory Hendricks joined St. Francis Xavier family this year. She is originally from Point Pleasant, NJ.  She moved to Florida in 2003 and has taught in Bonita Springs, Gateway and spent 11 years in Lee County School District. She graduated from Monmouth University in West Long Branch, NJ, where she majored in special education and general education. While in college, she studied abroad in London for a semester and traveled throughout Europe.

Melissa Lanzilotta - Grade 5

Mrs. Lanzilotta was born and raised in a suburb of Chicago, Illinois. She graduated from Florida Gulf Coast University with a Bachelor of Science in business management and is currently pursuing her masters in education. She joined the St. Francis family in 2017 as a teacher assistant. She loves listening to music and enjoys spending time with her family and her two Labrador Retrievers.

Natalie Kuznicki - Grade 5

Mrs. Kuznicki was born and raised in a suburb of Detroit, Michigan and moved to the Fort Myers area in 2014 when she joined the St. Francis family. She graduated from the University of Michigan with a B.A. in English literature and is currently enrolled at Florida Gulf Coast University pursuing her M.A. in education. She started as a teaching assistant and now a first-grade teacher. She enjoys spending time outdoors, running, and biking.


Middle (Grades 6-8)

Angela Fleitas - MS Language Arts

Mrs. Fleitas joined St. Francis in 2016. She has been teaching Language Arts and coaching track/cross country for 17 years and has taught middle school for five years. She graduated with her bachelors in English education from the University of Northern Iowa.

Pat Gill - MS Math

Mrs. Gill is a graduate of St. Bonaventure University where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics. She has taught mathematics at St. Francis for the last nineteen years. Mrs. Gill enjoys hiking, cruising, visiting national parks, sporting events, crafts and home projects.

Tina Pink - MS Math/Science

Mrs. Pink joined the St. Francis Xavier family, this year, after teaching for 10 years as an elementary school math teacher/interventionist. She has served as a fifth grade teacher, middle school 6-8 STEM science teacher, and a middle school social studies teacher. Her bachelor’s degree is in elementary education with a certification in grades five through nine general  science and social science.

Stacey DelaCuesta - MS Social Studies

Mrs. DelaCuesta has taught fifth grade at St. Francis Xavier Catholic School for two years. Prior to her time here, she taught upper level elementary for ten years, including one year of teaching middle school Language Arts. She grew up near Indianapolis, Indiana, and her background includes 15 years of journalism/ public relations, working for several newspapers and for the Indiana State Senate.

Nanette Popa - MS Religion

Mrs. Popa has joined the St. Francis Xavier Catholic School family as the middle school religion teacher. She is a native Floridian, but spent her teenage years in the mountains of Asheville, North Carolina. She attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in religious studies. For the past four years, Mrs. Popa lived and taught 7th & 8th grade social studies in Austin, Texas. Outside of school she enjoys traveling, spending time with her family, and playing with her giant Newfoundland dog, Griswold, and her cat, Buttercup.

Janel Massing - MS Science

Mrs. Massing has been teaching middle school science at St. Francis for two years. She has resided in Fort Myers for more than 20 years and attended Florida State University and Florida Gulf Coast University where she received bachelor’s degrees in education and health information management. She also completed certification as a registered health information administrator (RHIA). She previously served as a fifth-grade teacher with Lee County School District. When she’s not in her classroom, she enjoys spending time with her active family, CrossFit, volleyball and travelling to new places.

Mindy Pfleger - MS Math

Mrs. Pfleger is beginning her 5th year of teaching in middle school at St Francis Xavier Catholic School. She is a product of catholic education attending St Gerard and Lansing Catholic Central High School in Michigan. With an economics degree from Michigan State University, Mrs. Pfleger has a background in mathematics, statistics, economic theory, history, and political science. She also has a master’s in business administration from University of North Florida and masters-level education in curriculum and instruction from FGCU.

Samantha Ramirez - MS Language Arts

Mrs. Samantha Ramirez_19-20

Born and raised in the Midwest, Mrs. Ramirez moved to Florida and earned her bachelor’s degree from Florida Gulf Coast University. She went on to earn a master’s degree in pastoral theology from Barry University in Miami. Mrs. Ramirez has been a middle school language arts teacher at St. Francis Xavier Catholic School since 2014. She stays busy enjoying her family and two dogs.

Lisa Peck - MS Language Arts

Mrs. Lisa Peck joined St. Francis Xavier in 2018 in middle school Language Arts. She has been teaching grades K through eighth in Lee County for more than 10 years. Mrs. Peck graduated with her bachelor’s degree in English literature from Florida State University. She enjoys attending St. John XXIII Catholic Church and spending time with her family.


Christina Stejskal - Falcon Distance Learning Coordinator

Mrs. Stejskal has been teaching at St. Francis since 2011. She graduated from Florida Gulf Coast University and started her teaching career seven years ago teaching middle school science. She is a native Floridian and was an environmental scientist prior to becoming a teacher. She has a deep care and compassion for her family and students.


LaDette Borneman - Technology

Mrs. Borneman joined St. Francis Xavier in 2019. She is originally from Pennsylvania and moved to Southwest Florida in 2009. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh and her master’s degree in education from Duquesne University. Prior to working at St. Francis, Mrs. Borneman taught at Good Shepherd Episcopal School in Punta Gorda, FL.

Kelly Corr - PE Teacher

Kelly Corr is the PE teacher at St Francis Xavier Catholic School. Prior to Saint Francis, she taught in the classroom first, second and third grades. Her passion is teaching and volleyball. Coach Corr is the head volleyball coach at Saint Francis and the head beach volleyball coach at Bishop Verot Catholic High School. She played collegiate volleyball and has been coaching and playing volleyball for 18 years.

Gregory Morgan - PE Teacher

Greg “Coach” Morgan is a 5th generation Floridian who has taught PE for 15 years. He joined St. Francis in 2016. He is a Certified Athletic Trainer, dealing with sports injuries. His focus is to develop kids athletically, nutritionally and spiritually to be the best versions of themselves.

Jackie Gelardi - Guidance

Mrs. Gelardi has lived in Lee County since she was 12 years old and is a proud graduate of Bishop Verot High School. She has been the school counselor at Saint Francis Xavier Catholic School for 25 years.  She attended Stetson University and Florida Southern College for her undergraduate degree.  She worked as a counselor for Florida Southern College before starting the graduate program at USF in Tampa where she earned a master’s degree in counselor education.  She is a licensed mental health counselor with the State of Florida and a Nationally Board-Certified Counselor.

Marcia Jesse - Media Specialist

Born and raised in Novo Hamburgo, South America Brazil, Señora Jesse moved to the United States in 1986. She has been part of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic School family since 2012. She helps students check-out books and reads to younger students. Her hobbies include cooking, reading, gardening and biking. One of the most exciting things she has done in her life was becoming an American citizen.

Jeffrey Jodice - Music Teacher

Originally from Massachusetts, Mr. Jodice has been a member of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic School family since 2015.  He received his music education degree and K-12 certification from Berklee College in Boston. He has more than 30 years of professional musical experience as a music educator, performer, recording musician, and composer/arranger. He has been a drummer, bass and piano player in many different types of ensembles including big bands, jazz ensembles, rock/blues bands and orchestras.

Vanessa Lombardo - Art Teacher

Vanessa Lombardo has called SW Florida her home for the majority of her life. She grew up on Captiva and Sanibel Island, and she can often be found sharing her love of the islands with visitors along the beach through her art. Mrs. Lombardo is a graduate of the University of South Florida. With more than 24 years of teaching experience, she has taught at numerous grade levels. She is most passionate about teaching Art to children. She often incorporates nature and found objects into her class projects. Her love of boating, shelling, bird watching, and painting have kept her close to the beach. She enjoys outdoor adventures with her family.

Monica Nelson - Resource Teacher

Monica Nelson was born and raised in Fort Myers and graduated from Bishop Verot High School. She received her bachelor’s degree in theater/communications from Florida State University and her master’s degree in educational leadership from FGCU. She has been teaching for 15 years and has taught grades K-8. She joined St. Francis in 2017. In her spare time she enjoys watching her kids play sports, going to the theater and cheering on the NOLES in football.

Evelyn Velasquez - Spanish Teacher

Señora Velasquez was born in Brooklyn, NY then her family moved to Puerto Rico where she attended the Universidad Interamerican de Fajardo. She continued her education at Boricua College in Brooklyn. She taught for 13 years in the Diocese of Brooklyn, then joined the St. Francis Xavier family in 2001 as Spanish teacher where she currently teaches grades K3 through 8th grade. Her passion is teaching Spanish as well as introducing Hispanic culture and other Hispanic-speaking countries. She enjoys spending time with her family and teaching in a Catholic school.

Dana Scippo - Falcon Academy Director

Dana Scippo graduated from the State University of New York College at Brockport with a BS in School and Community Health Education. She later earned a MA in Liberal Studies from Nazareth College while teaching middle and high school students in Rochester, NY. Dana has been teaching elementary school since relocating to Southwest Florida in 2004 and holds ESOL and Gifted Education endorsements. She is excited about her new role at St. Francis Xavier Catholic School as the Falcon Academy Director and aims to challenge and engage her students every day!
